Students will analyze and evaluate informational and literary works in conjunction with British historical events beginning with the Old English and Medieval periods and continuing into the Post-modern period. Students will explore major questions surrounding the relationship between literature and setting, literature as a reflection and shaper of society, and the relationship of the writer to tradition. In tandem with literary study, they will also sharpen vocabulary and grammar skills through interactive activities and writing assignments. Multiple choice, open-response, and essay assessments will measure students' progress throughout their study of the content. First Week Assignments: Meet, Greet and Share. / Write memoir of self.

HMH into Literature Texas British Literature 12 Assessment: Homework, class/daily work, essays*, research papers, journals, reading in and out of class, tests quizzes (“pop” and announced), projects, field and benchmark tests, presentations, reports, and participation in class and within groups are areas of assessment. Daily grades comprise of 33.3% of your average and tests or major grades comprise of 66.7% of your total average. Mid-term and final exams carry 25% weight of your total average. All grading strictly adheres to BISD Secondary Grading Policy. *in most cases essays/writing assignments are counted as test grades.
